Background

Sheila is former president of the Guatemalan Interpreter’s and Translator’s Association—AGIT—and past owner of the British Language Centre. She also has Celta Grade A certification and Delta Module 1 diploma (Cambridge University English teaching programs) that allow her to teach English at university level worldwide. Sheila frequently teaches English to foreign students at Brunel University in London.

Sheila has had the good fortune to be an interpreter at a number of meetings with Guatemalan and Honduran presidents—but also with Prince Andrew from the U.K. She’s developed relationships over the last 30 years with clients from Denmark, Holland, Belize and, of course, Guatemala.

Although based in Guatemala, she travels for interpreting events to other countries—including the United States, England, Belize, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica and Mexico.

Sheila maintains a loyal translation client base due to her attention to detail, but also the fact that she maintains terminology glossaries for clients so that her translations for them year to year are consistent. She also maintains glossaries on the different topics that she works on so that her terminology is consistent within a subject area and always up-to-date.
